CQC Inspection?
This post is specifically aimed at our CQC regulated customers, in any CQC inspection there are five main questions, the very first of these is ARE YOU SAFE? - safe: you are protected from abuse and avoidable harm. This question is then broken down into a further set of questions which they call there "lines of enquiry". For example, the inspection team might look at how risks are identified and managed to help them understand whether a service is safe. One of these risks is

Views around our offices
Today was a staff training day, so no appointments as everyone was in the office, I was struggling to find something to write about for the blog when I suddenly came up with the idea of showing you part of the grounds around our offices, when lunch break finally came I went for a walk camera in hand and wanted to share these beautiful photos with you, why not pop in one day and lets talk about how we can save you money on PAT testing and periodic electrical inspections, cup o

PAT Testing Supported Living
Today we carried out PAT testing on supported living accommodation, 9 flats and 1 house, after a long days testing there were no failures to report at all, this is due to the client insisting on annual PAT testing, it's a bit like the dentist, if you have regular check ups they correct any small problems before it's too late and you need fillings. The moral of this story is get your PAT testing done every year and you wont get any surprises. Call us now on 01992 761622 to boo

I got a cheaper quote.....
We telephoned a client from last year today to arrange the annual PAT test only to be told someone else had quoted £10.00 cheaper, we explained cheaper is not necessarily the best option when dealing with electrical safety, the last thing you want is a cowboy not doing the job properly then having a major problem, all for the sake of few pounds saved. Fortunately they booked with us, we have not had a price increase for 3 years, it is still from just £69.99 and we send at lea

Been a busy week....
It's been a busy week so far, this week we have PAT tested 22 flats, an office and 2 dental practices, below is a failure from this morning, it is never ok to twist wires together and wrap them up with a little insulating tape, especially when it's a vacuum cleaner which is constantly being pulled, everyday we find things like this that could cause a nasty shock, please take good care of your electrical appliances and stay safe, to book a professional Portable Appliance Test

Look out for these...
Twice today we came across these leads, take a good look at it can you see what's wrong?, No? apparently the last two PAT testing companies couldn't either which is shocking, look at the plug, especially the odd shape, firstly the live and neutral pins are not insulated, secondly the pins are too near the edge of the plug due to its odd shape, you could quite easily get a shock from this plug when removing it as your fingers may touch the pins, and thirdly the plug has no fu

EICR Electrical Installation Condition Report
As part of our ongoing expansion programme, as well as Portable Appliance Testing we are now in a position to offer an EICR report. (also called Periodic Inspection Report or Fixed Wire Testing) An EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) is as the name implies a report into the condition of the electrical installation and to highlight any safety shortcomings, defects or deviations from the current revision of the electrical regulations BS7671. How frequently should th

Triple Fail.....
Came across this little beauty today whilst inspecting a dental laboratory, this failed right away on visual inspection on at least 3 things, can you see what? 1/ The live pin is overheating/burning, this is no doubt due to a loose connection which brings us to reason 2. 2/ The outer insulation of the flex is to short where it goes in the plug, this means the cable grip in the plug is not doing it's job which of course may cause a loose connection (reason 1). 3/ If you look a
